Why We Don't Prescribe Aromatase Inhibitors for Men on TRT

At Pinnacle Men's Health, one of the most common questions we hear is: "Do I need something to control my estrogen?"

The answer is simple: No---and in most cases, you shouldn't.

A spilled bottle of Aromatase Inhibitors, symbolizing why we do not prescribe them for high estrogen.

Estrogen is Essential for Men

Estrogen is not just a "female hormone." It plays a critical role in men's health, including:

  • Brain function and mood stability

  • Bone density and long term strength

  • Cardiovascular health

  • Libido and sexual function

Lowering estrogen unnecessarily can disrupt all of these systems.

The Problem with Aromatase Inhibitors

Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) are medications that block the conversion of testosterone into estrogen.

While this might sound helpful, it often leads to:

  • Joint pain

  • Fatigue

  • Low libido

  • Mood changes

  • Increased long term health risks

This is not optimization! It's hormonal suppression.

Most "High Estrogen" Symptoms Are Misunderstood

Symptoms often blamed on estrogen include:

  • Water retention

  • Mood swings

  • Low energy

In reality, these are usually caused by:

  • Improper dosing

  • Poor injection frequency

  • SHBG imbalance

Our Approach

At Pinnacle Men's Health, we focus on:

  • Proper dosing

  • Individualized injection frequency

  • SHBG-based optimization

  • Treating symptoms, not chasing lab numbers

Bottom Line

Estrogen is not something we suppress. It's something we optimize alongside testosterone for long-term health.
